Five words to remember; all blogs need a voice.

This can be one of the most difficult and easiest concepts to grasp in this space.

No matter how long you have been blogging, after a while we all begin to make some determinations about what actually works and what does not.

So what does it mean to discover your voice?

It is simply that part of you which comes through in your writing.  It is that side used to convey your message to your audience.

Think for a moment, what voice do you use when conveying your message on your blog?  Are you witty, sarcastic opinionated or informative?  When sharing your voice, do you listen to what you are saying to your audience? Do you take the time out to let your voice be heard through your words?

If you are finding it difficult to discover your voice or have noticed your voice has changed since you began blogging, here are a few tips to stay true to your words.

1. Always speak your mind.  If you feel a need to change your tone to appeal to your audience then, you are not being true to yourself or what you represent as a brand.  By speaking your mind, you are actually giving a voice to those who support your platform.

2. Change it up.  Share other sides of yourself.  Keep things entertaining, share something totally random, become more relatable and approachable.

3. Stir up your passion.  Let your stream of consciousness flow, share what makes you happy, sad, pensive, etc, you may surprise yourself with what you come up with.

4. Never compromise who you areAcknowledge the fact that not everyone will share your views.  Be open, honest and willing to discuss different angles on a variety of issues. Respect the right and opinions of others that may disagree with you.

Accept that you can not please everyone, staying true to yourself and what you represent is what truly matters.
