Leslie was born and raised in Southern California. She met and married the man of her dreams who relocated them to a small town, just north of Guadalajara, Mexico. She has happily lived there for 11 years raising 4 children and learning all there is to know about traditional Mexican food.

Leslie has loved to cook and bake since childhood as her fondest memories include those spent in the kitchen with her grandmother and grandfather making tamales, empanadas and capirotada.

Today Leslie share her tips with us, enjoy!

For me, this blog is about so much more than just Mexican food, it’s a celebration of the rich culture and traditions Mexico has to offer and a way to share the memorable moments spent in la cocina with family and friends. “ Leslie

When did you start blogging?  I started blogging in April 2009.

Why did you start blogging?  I started my food blog as a way to share with my friends and family the authentic Mexican recipes I’ve learned to make after having lived in Mexico for so many years.

Do you any have advice for beginner bloggers?  Be yourself.  Be adventurous: Try a food you’ve never had before, or try that one recipe you’ve always dreamed of making but feel a little intimidated by.  Don’t worry about failure, it happens to us all.  And remember to have fun.

What tips can you share on attracting new readers to your blog?  Share your blog with your friends and family, who in turn will share it with their friends and family, and so on and so on.  Also, make friends with other bloggers by leaving comments on their blogs.  Just make sure that the comments are well thought out and have to do with what the blogger is writing about.  No “Nice post.  Come visit my blog,” kind of comment.

What is you photography style process?  Most of my photographs are taken mid-morning or mid-afternoon on my dining room table that is directly under a skylight.  I try to serve the plates how I imagine I would want them served to me in a restaurant.  Then I forage around the house for props, and  my hubby’s upholstery shop for fabric scraps that I use as a background or napkins.

What inspires your posts, what flavors do you love?  I find inspiration all around.  Sometimes it’s whatever produce is in season at the local fruteria.  Sometimes it’s food I miss from the United States.  Sometimes it’s a new dish I discovered at a restaurant and want to make at home.  And sometimes it’s something I’m craving after looking through one of my many cookbooks.

What have you learned from blogging?  The one thing that blogging has taught me is that there is always something new to learn.  I love learning about the history of certain foods and dishes.  And I love discovering new fruits and veggies.

What are your goals for the future?  My dream would be to write a cookbook and open my own restaurant.  I would also love to travel around the world, learning how other moms/wives prepare the traditional meals of their country.

Thanks Leslie!
