I knew then, as a small child, that cooking was the farthest thing from a chore…. it was a true art form and one I would try and excel at for the rest of my life.”  Nicole Presley

When did Presley’s Pantry first hit publish?

Feb 2011

Why did you start blogging?

I wanted to document my recipes for family and friends who were always calling asking how to make certain dishes and it took off from there.

Do you any have advice for beginner bloggers?

Write what you know. Make it personal. Original content is KEY.

What tips can you share on attracting new readers to your blog?

Post often. 3 to 4 times a week is recommended for the first year. Make sure your SEO is descriptive of your post and short. Social media, become active on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. . Networking with other bloggers and leaving comments on blogs of the same likeness.

What is you photography style process?

I try to shoot in the daytime. Natural light makes a world of difference. Take many shots from different angles till you see exactly what you envisioned.  If I’m shooting at night I use a good light…. it’s the next best thing.

Presley’s Pantry features wonderful videos, what one tip would you share with someone thinking of adding video to their blog?

Be yourself.  Again originality goes a long way.

What inspires your posts, what flavors do you love?

I dream of foods from my childhood, or things I’ve tasted in far away places, and make them into a version of what fits me now.  I love many different flavors depends on my craving that day. I gravitate towards the flavors of Mexico, France and Asia.

What have you learned from blogging?

It takes a lot of hard work and serious dedication. I learned that I also enjoy photographing…. never tried my hand at it till I started writing Presley’s Pantry. I’ve also learned so much more about computers, google, social media, and a whole blogging world I had no idea existed.

What are your goals for the future?

To have my own cooking show. To develop recipes for several publications, and to continue giving back to my community.

Thanks Nicole!
