On January 13, 2013 a group of 150 bloggers and digital broadcasters from 10 countries around the world landed on Dearborne, Michigan on the invitation of the Ford Motor Company for two days of getting a better look at what Ford is doing with fuel efficiency, sustainability around the world, quality, and new technology programs. The dates coincided with the famed North American International Auto Show held every year in Detroit.
LBC was honored to be among the group of bloggers visiting the Ford headquarters and we were even more thrilled when we got to meet up with many Latina bloggers that were in attendance. The #latinabloggers made a huge splash during the #FordNAIAS Digital Summit events with their engaging online activity sharing via Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and such the details of the cars we tested, the people we met, the history we learned and the technology we were impressed by.
The Latina bloggers present at the #FordNAIAS event were:
Denisse of Ahorros Para Mamá
Jeannette of Hispana Global
Lynn of Webcitygirls
Rory of Mamá Contemporanea
Gaby of SuperLatina
Rachel of The Art Muse and Latina Bloggers Connect
Monique of Curves and Chaos
Alba of Independent Mami
Byrdie of LATISM
Teresa of Checa la Movie
Ana of SpanglishBaby and Latina Bloggers Connect
The first day kicked off with a visit to the Henry Ford Museum where the 150 digital media outlets were welcomed by Scott Monty, head of social media for Ford Motor Company. We also got to listen to creatives from MILK Studios on how the new Ford Fusion sparked a collaboration between the two companies, resulting in “Wall to Wall: The Fusion Collective,” a multimedia gallery experience.

The next two days included a visit to the Ford Rouge Factory where the concept of assembly lines originated, as well as a Vehicle Drive Experience at the Dearborn Development Center that made us all feel like the ultimate test driving pros!

One of the many highlights of the day was to visit inside Ford’s Virttex driving simulator where safety tests are being performed to enhance many driving features. We also got to listen from an impressive panel of climate change experts, such as author Andrew Winston, on how the environment needs to be on the agenda of any business plan. And we all kept nodding in agreement and fascinated by the learnings. It made me want the new Ford Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid even more!

The last day the group of global digital media influencers were welcomed at the North American International Auto Show were they got to preview the best of what’s here and what’s to come in automotive.
Thank you to Ford for the almost surreal experience and the chance to learn more straight from the company.
