Latinas Think Big

We’re excited to share with you a special event that brings together Latina trailblazers at Google Headquarters in Los Angeles! The LATINAS THINK BIG™event will take place on Friday, October 11th and will be nationally broadcast through a Google+ Hangouts on Air and YouTube for viewing at home.  This event presents a unique opportunity to gather with colleagues, friends and family to talk more about the role leadership and professional development play in our daily lives. By its very nature, the internet is a social medium. We gather to watch all sorts of events online—TV, concerts, entertainment, and award shows.  Why not consider doing the same with a thought-provoking and inspiring event like LATINAS THINK BIG?

I am excited to announce that LBC will be attending the LATINAS THINK BIG event at Google Headquarters this fall and I would love for all of you to join us, virtually, in celebrating this immense event — one that combines Latina leadership and social media in a way that can capture the attention of both our offline and online communities.

Even though the live event sold out within hours of the announcement, we’d still love to see as many Latinas attend this event as possible, and I invite our #LatinaBloggers community to join in on the fun and get ready for some serious inspiration, whether you’re joining us in L.A. or watching us from home!  We’re excited to have this opportunity to connect with you for a discussion about your future, your goals, your BIG ideas! Let’s THINK BIG!

I’m also happy to announce that Latina Bloggers Connect is an official sponsor of the LATINAS THINK BIG™ LA event.  This means you will be hearing a lot from our team in the coming weeks about the event and how you can jumpstart your BIG idea.  We also want to invite you to sign up to view the event online with a free virtual pass.

It also means we get to share another amazing event for Latina leaders with you!  The ELLA Leadership Institute Training Conference in New York City will take place from April 18-19! And of course, we’re also hosting an awesome giveaway for one of you to attend!

The Giveaway!

ELLA Leadership Institute is giving away ONE trip to New York City along with an All Access Pass to the ELLA Leadership Institute Training Conference, including airfare to New York City!  That’s a value of up to $1,000, which will cover admission to all the conference sessions and workshops, meals and snacks, and airfare from your home to New York City for the big event (ground transportation, lodging, etc. not included).

My BIG idea is to launch an Annual International Latina Day of Gratitude on October 15, 2013. I want Latinas everywhere to connect and raise our collective voices as we give “la gracias” for the cultural roots that ground us and the spiritual wings that allow us to FLY!!! Here is my post on why I want to attend ELLA…http://zulmaramaria.com/latinasthinkbig/ and why the THINK BIG Event is already on my calendar!!!

I am grateful to be part of an amazing networking tool called “social media” which allows our voices to be heard and our ideas explored.

Now we need to put faces behind those we call, cyber compadres/comadres. LET’S MINGLE!

My Big Idea is to start a magazine targeting and empowering young professionals and college women specially Latinas, the “Working Latina Magazine” project. There are many resources available but I am proposing to have a single platform where all these resources are combined, available and easily accessible. My vision is to bring a fresh point of view and to offer guidance and support through a variety of articles for young modern working women.

My big idea is to see our community of East Stockton, CA revive the closed Fair Oaks Library into a bilingual library and technology center offering books and various publications in Spanish and English, provide technology resources and become a place where we can build ourselves into a strong, educated community ready for the future! I am so excited to gain support from our network here. Thank you & I look forward to see you all soon!

I am in awe of all of you power Latinas! I love your posts and BIG ideas. The future is bright for our community :) It’s an exciting time to be Latina.

My BIG idea is for my blog (The Modern Latina) to become the #1 resource for educational and professional opportunities for young Latinas – those in high school, college, and young professionals. This mission is similar to the ELLA Leadership Institute and I would love to collaborate with them to work towards our missions together. By providing young Latinas with the resources and support when they are younger, the more prepared they will be as they become Latina leaders and professionals. Junto podemos!
