Summer Strategy Series: 4 Ways to Build Success

Over the past few weeks, I have been focusing on utilizing different strategies using your online presence to build success. This week, I will step away from that (for just a bit) and share a few ways to help you reach your goal of building success.
One thing to keep in mind is not to underestimate the difficulty of reaching your goals and achieving success. Thinking things will come to you effortlessly will leave you unprepared and often leads to failure. Achieving goals requires time and believing in your ability to succeed will help you stay focused and motivated.
- Be precise. Know what you want and create very specific goals and actions to accomplish them. Setting clear goals lets you see firsthand what success can feel like. Know what it is that you want to achieve and get there. “Write a blog post from 1-2pm” is an example of a specific goal as opposed to “write a post today”. Being clear and detailed allows you to check more things off your list.
- Take action. Once your goals are outlined, decide on the time and place each action will take place. Don’t miss out on opportunities because they have been overlooked.
- Strength of mind. Challenge yourself to do things out of your comfort zone. Acquire new skills, set up meetups, create a community, speak at a conference, write an e-book, self publish, etc.
- Determination. Commit to your long-term goals. Believe in yourself, your brand and your ability to get things done. With effort, preparation and determination you will have what it takes to succeed.
I strongly believe building success is more about what you do and not necessarily because of who you are. Always focus your efforts on the things you will do and stop focusing on what you can’t do.
Be an optimist and believe in your ability to succeed.

I agree with your approach, a solid way to make sure you are making progress. I would add get input and feedback to make sure you are on the right track from people you trust. And don’t be afraid to change course if your initial idea is off.

Julie, I completely agree with you.
Being able to get constructive criticism from those closet to you (like a blog mentor of sorts) is a great way to get things started and make things happen.
