Do you want to know who you are? Don’t ask. Act! Action will delineate and define you. - Thomas Jefferson

How many times have you asked yourself what the purpose of your blog is?

This, I’m sure is a question that many of us have asked ourselves at one point or another in our endeavors as content creators and one that often receives a different answer every time it’s asked.

Due to the online media growth expanding over the last few years, blogging has grown in popularity and has afforded us the opportunity to take to this medium as a way to express ourselves, share our passions and communicate with the masses about the things that are important to us.

Blogging allows us to communicate with a large audience quickly, publicly and effectively.  Getting our message out and sharing our point of view on various topics allows for good conversation, interaction and contribution by those reading our content.

People read blogs to be entertained, engaged and appreciated.  I feel it is our duty as online communicators to fuel the fire of knowledge and thought by making the reader tap into what they know.

Sharing information with others is why blogging is important to me.  It gives me the ability to inform, reach out and create valuable connections with my readers and fellow bloggers.

When I blog I feel I’m not alone on my travel through the writer’s world as a novice, woman of color, single mom, and part of the “Quesadilla Generation,” that has its own myriad of challenges.

Through blogging, I have the opportunity to share what I find along this road whether it’s a positive or negative experience. In that sharing and the interaction I have the chance to see how others handle similar challenges, how they cope, hear their stories, laugh, get misty eyed, and often nod my head and say, “oh, yeah, me too.”
